International Adoption
- Korea
Generally about 11-24 months for assignment
Mostly healthy infants and some toddlers - China
Generally about 24-28 months (2008) for assignment after the Dossier is logged in CCAA.
Healthy infants, mostly female, and older children - Special Needs
AAC also has very active special needs children program, minor to major, from Korea and China.
General Adoption Procedures
- Submit Preliminary Application
- AAC then provides a pre-adoption consultation and informational meeting for your family, or via telephone for out-of-state families. (Free of charge, no commitment required at this time.)
- Submit Formal Application and become an official AAC family
- Home Study and Core training begin
- Start gathering required legal documents. If a dossier is required, dossier paperwork begins (AAC prepares the dossier)
- Assignment of Child !!
- Pre-arrival meeting (to prepare for your child's arrival) or pre-travel meeting (if travel is required or if the family chooses to travel).
- Child arrives home
- Post-placement services begin
- Court process commences (AAC prepares and submits the paperwork.)
- Finalization or validation of the adoption in the United States
- Birth Certificate received
